When I first announced my run for DFL Secretary back in December I knew that it would be a tough race between Vanessa and I. And, in February I did not leave Cokato as your DFL Secretary. I was happy to have lost to someone like Vanessa, a devoted DFLer, a wonderful and kind person, and a worthy opponent. As I had mentioned in my speech to you in February, I was happy to have had the opportunity to campaign for the position, and to have Vanessa and I compete with one another.
I am saddened that Vanessa has had to resign, but I commend her for making a hard decision and knowing what would and wouldn't work for her and her future family. I know that Vanessa will still be involved heavily, just not in the way she had originally intended back in February.
Thank you Vanessa for your service as Secretary, and thank you for being a strong and kind person.
Having communicated with Vanessa about her decision, it excites to me to announce to you that I am running to serve as your next State DFL Secretary, and would be honored to have your support at the State Central Committee Meeting on September 17th.
If elected, I look forward to serving you and the party with honesty, perspective, two ears, and one mouth. I know that I am capable of taking the reins from Vanessa and I believe I would continue to serve the State Party well, just as Vanessa has.
Again, please consider supporting me at the State Central Committee Meeting on September 17th, I would be honored to have your support.
Sincerely,
Jacob Grippen
Chair, Houston County DFL
